Pastoral Reflection
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
First of all, I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your generosity in supporting the second collection for the victims of the earthquake in Venezuela. May God reward you abundantly for your kindness.
Nearly two months of summer vacation have already passed. In just one more month, St. Trần Văn Thiện School will begin the 2026–2027 academic year and resume its educational programs. The Saints Peter and Paul Eucharistic Youth Movement of our parish will also begin its activities on Saturday, August 22.
As of today, 307 students have registered: 274 students for Faith Formation and 234 students for Vietnamese Language classes. Parents who have not yet had an opportunity to register their children are kindly asked to do so as soon as possible so that we can prepare properly for the new school year.
We strongly encourage parents to register early rather than waiting until opening day. The classrooms in our school area vary in size, with some larger and some smaller. Therefore, the School Administration needs to know the number of students in advance so that each class can be assigned to an appropriate room.
On opening day, the School Administration will also be very busy coordinating with teachers and arranging the classes. It will be difficult to properly assist parents who come to register at the last minute. Please help us by registering early. What can be done today should not be delayed until the final moment.
St. Trần Văn Thiện School is also in great need of volunteers to serve as teachers and classroom monitors. We especially need Faith Formation teachers for grades 7 and 9. We invite everyone to consider helping so that our parish educational programs may continue to grow and develop successfully. Thank you.
I would also like to encourage parents to register their children for the MCO+ Program. This program is designed for students in grades 11 and 12. Faith formation is a lifelong journey, even as we grow into adulthood. Let us help our young people build a strong foundation of faith so that, when they attend college, they may continue to preserve their Catholic identity.
Parents are also encouraged to register their children for the Eucharistic Youth Movement. Based on pastoral experience, when children participate in parish organizations from a young age, they not only deepen their understanding of the faith but also develop important life skills, social skills, and personal discipline.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults will also begin in early September. Please invite anyone who is interested in learning about or joining the Catholic Church to participate.
We ask that participants register early so that we can know how many people will attend and prepare accordingly. Almost every year, some people ask to join after the program has already begun. Sometimes, when the request comes too late, we must ask them to wait until September of the following year.
May the remaining days of summer be joyful and refreshing for all of you. We continue to remember you in our prayers.
Please do not forget that our parish still greatly needs everyone’s prayers and support. May God always protect you and bless you abundantly.
